5 New Jobs at the Water Supply and Sanitation

1. Programme Manager, Networking & Knowledge Management Department (P5 Level), Application Deadline: September 10, 2009

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this senior-level post will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Networking and Knowledge Management work and team.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this senior-level post will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Advocacy and Communications work and team.

3. Technical Officer, Networking & Knowledge Management Department (P2 Level), Application Deadline: September 11, 2009

This post works with monitoring and reporting on the various national, regional and thematic networks operating with support of the Networking and Knowledge Management team, and in programme development and knowledge management. (This post is being re-advertised for operational reasons. 4. Programme Officer, Grants Management Department (P3 Level), Application Deadline: September 18, 2009

The post will manage sanitation and hygiene grants to country programmes while taking special responsibility for maintaining Global Sanitation Fund alignment with best practice in sanitation and hygiene.

International Symposium on Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases

Air Quality and Climate Change Section of the Netherlands Association of Environmental Professionals (VVM) is organizing Fifth International Symposium on science, implementation and policy aspects of non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases (NCGG-5) from June 30 to July 3, 2009.The symposium will be held in Wageningen in The Netherlands. According to the organizer, the symposium will address the role of non-CO2 greenhouse gases and aerosol in human-induced climate change and also the cost-effective options for reduction and its implementation in industry and society.

The symposium aims to remove barriers beween policy and science and fosters the dialogue between scientists, engineers and officials in industry and government, which are all, though from a different perspective, involved in non-CO2 greenhouse gas issues.

International Conference on River Basin Management 2009

Fifth International Conference on River Basin Management including all aspects of Hydrology, Ecology, Environmental Management, Flood Plains and Wetlands is being organized from 7 - 9 September 2009 in Malta by Wessex Institute of Technology, UK. The conference is sponsored by WIT Transactions on Ecology and the Environment in association with American Society of Civil Engineers.

River restoration - STREAM project

STREAM project is organizing workshop on 3 October 2008 focusing the concept of River restoration. The workshop will be help at Langford Lakes, Wiltshire. According to STREAM website, the project is a £1 million conservation project began in September 2005. The project site is centred on the River Avon SAC and the Avon Valley SPA in Wiltshire and Hampshire.

STREAM is inviting competent authorities (local planners, Environment Agency, and Natural England staff) to a workshop to visit the works, and to discuss how river restoration relates to the management of designated sites. Please find details of the programme by clicking the project site.
